Beach Scene

Maya - modeling, lighting, rendering, procedural textures
Vue 5 - environment effects, sky render
Photoshop - hand painted textures

This scene was my initial teaser image and proposal for my thesis project in grad school. I wanted to convey the feeling of a long day at the beach. Eventually, my advisors suggested that since I was incorporating more elements into the scene, that i take a more subtle lighting approach which can be seen upon clicking through.

Body at the Microscopic level

Maya - modeling, lighting, rendering, procedural textures
Photoshop - hand painted textures

This scenes was created while I was workin on a project for Genentech, a San Francisco based pharmaceutical firm. The goal was to show how certain drugs interact with the body, so we had to realize something that was purely speculative. The art director eventually gave us direction and wanted the scene to simulate outer space, or at least give that feeling.

Warehouse

Maya - modeling

This warehouse was created while I was an intern at Group Hug Productions. They were developing a PBS animated short about a ragtag bunch of forgotten antiques in an old warehouse. I was in charge of taking a concept sketch and developing it into a realistic space. This is the approved model before texture.

kitchen wip

Kitchen Architectural Study

This render is a work in progress of a kitchen in Japan. I chose to do this model because of the great lighting and clean lines. The shaders should also provide a significant challenge.

If you click through, you'll be able to see what I want the final render to look like.
